The products we work with
What goes onto your nails, and why that.
Nails are only as good as the workmanship and the material. You can judge the workmanship from the gallery; the material is something it is only fair that we tell you ourselves. We use the same products for every service in the Ljubljana studio, so the result is predictable whenever you come.
For extensions
We work with professional-grade builder gels and acrylic gel — material that European rules reserve for professional use and require to carry a warning saying so. The system we use stays the same from appointment to appointment, so the result is predictable: the nails we do today will look in three weeks the way you expect. Because we know the material inside out, we pick the right gel for your nail rather than the one that is nearest. We extend on a form or on a tip depending on the shape of your nail; both are described under nail extensions.
For gel polish and BIAB
Here too we work with a professional system: gel polishes for long-wear colour, and builder gel in a bottle for BIAB. The difference between the two is explained under gel polish and BIAB.
Colours
The studio holds 250+ shades — classic, seasonal and special. If you have one exact colour in mind, bring a photograph; we almost always get very close.
For aftercare
After every service we feed the cuticle with oil. We recommend the same oil for home care, and you can buy it from us — how and how often to use it is under nail care.
For pedicures
For pedicures we use the same gels and gel polishes as on hands — gel polish or gel, depending on what you choose. The procedure is described under pedicure.
The rules we work to
Cosmetics are not an unregulated category in the European Union. Nail products fall under the same rules as anything else that goes on skin, and those rules have tightened significantly in recent years. Here is the part that actually concerns you:
- TPO is banned. Since 1 September 2025 no product containing it may be sold in the EU, at any concentration — it was moved onto the list of substances prohibited in all cosmetics. There is none in this studio. Regulation (EU) 2025/877
- HEMA is for professionals only. Since 2021 this ingredient may only appear in products for professional use, which must carry the warnings “For professional use only” and “Can cause an allergic reaction”. That is not red tape: HEMA is the most common cause of allergy to nail cosmetics. Regulation (EU) 2020/1682
- An acrylate allergy does not go away. Once the body becomes sensitised it stays sensitised. So it is worth preventing rather than treating — which is why we keep the material off the skin beside the nail.
Why home kits are not the same thing
Among people using at-home gel kits, 54% report skin reactions, rising to 80% among weekly users. The usual problem is not the ingredient but the application: an untrained hand leaves material over the edge of the nail on the skin, and the layer does not cure through under a weaker lamp. Both are precisely what professional application removes.
Products with the strongest ingredients are legally intended for professional use and must say so on the packaging. Getting hold of them is not impossible — but that warning means exactly what it says: using them safely takes a trained hand.
What that means for you
- The material stays on the nail and does not touch your skin.
- Every layer is cured through, under a lamp matched to the system we use.
- If you have ever reacted to gel, acrylic or glue, tell us — we will adjust the material or advise against the appointment.
- If you want the ingredients of a particular product, we will show you the packaging in the studio.
